Why do you believe this tree should be selected as the winner in this category?

In the enchanted land of Arbour Glen there was a lovely princess named Phyllis. She loved playing with the children under their favourite tree. Then one day a dark shadow passed over the land. All of the people ran in fear from the dragon, Melanoma. Princess Phyllis bravely rushed out to face it and forced him back to his fiery lair. She taught the children the added safety to be found playing in the shade of their tree, disguising themselves in hats and long sleeves. Then, she showed them a mystical potion to be spread on their skin. The children learned and frolicked in the shade.
Princess Phyllis grew older, and instead of playing, she sang songs under it's sheltering boughs. At last, as things do happen even in enchanted lands, Princess Phyllis came to sing no more. The people gathered in the shadow of the tree to remember.
Then a new playground was to be built. The most important instruction was,"No harm must come to our tree". The children stepped outside and saw their wonderful new playground. Its roots nestled snugly by cozy rubber stood their tree, sheltering them as it always had. The children knew it would shelter generations from Melanoma. All gathered under the tree in celebration and placed a plaque upon the tree that everyone would know the story of Princess Phyllis and the most wonderful tree in the land. We at Arbour Glen Day Nursery love our playground tree and the woman whose name it bears. Phyllis Beattie

What a wonderful story. It brought tears to my eyes. This author is amazing. I would like to find out if she has more stories to share with us.

A clever and thoughtful tale for children to share anf spread to fend off that fearful Melanoma adn remember the fair Princess Phyllis!

What a fitting story for such a great place and a tree that has seen and heard a million smiles!!

Absolute best story, hands down. That tree is very special to the kids of Arbour Glen. It is the best hiding tree; the best crying tree; the best finding bugs tree; and the best run around and get dizzy tree. And now it is our best memory tree. Well Done Arbour Glen!

Beautiful story and equally beautiful tree that provides shade to the wonderfull kids and staff of Arbour Glen Day Nursery.

What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it with London and the world!
