Why do you believe this tree should be selected as the winner in this category?

This is the largest tree in the neighbourhood and can be seen in a number of very early aerial photos of the region. While the age isn't known, it seems to have survived all sorts of weather over the years and even the recent early snows that have battered lesser trees in the city.
Like the early settlers, it is hardy, resilient and makes a lasting impression on the landscape.
