Why do you believe this tree should be selected as the winner in this category?
I shot this photo of Valda painting as the Beech appeared to be right next to easel flowing!
This particular "European Emerald Waterfall Beech" appears to be approximately 120 years of age, My guess is it was possibly planted in the mid 1870's - 1890's. approx 50' FT height, circumference approx 40" inches
I believe that this particular selection and planting location near the once prolific babbling brook above the Story Book Gardens "Chapel" was inspired by the famous "Wishing Well Water Fall" in the midst of Komoka Provincial Park's river front.
Not only did the Wishing Well inspire a soft drink, the water feature there creates a fog bank of misted water falling approximately 45' to the Thames River at a constant 52F degrees, similar to Springbank's unusually soft and cold pure mineral water.
The trunk stands upright and straight from which the branches hang down to form a green fountain cone like shape with leaves that dazzles the eyes with a breeze, new leaves are luminous chartreuse and deepen with colour as they age .
Note: This Beech is under threat due to the close proximity of the black walnut trees growing in the ravine above and behind causing invasive damage to the winter storm damage it has endured
The city forester has been notified about the condition of this grandfather specimen.
Yours sincerely,
Milyn Hall
