Berkshire Park
Berkshire Park was used as a dumping space during construction of the homes and businesses many years ago. As a result, the soil is very poor quality and a past project did not do well. We returned with compost and more plants, and planted in a wetter section of the park.
With the help of many volunteers, including Ivey School of Business students, we successfully planted over 200 native trees and shrubs. We also removed stakes and ties from trees that had been planted many years ago. The ties were girdling the trees, causing permanent damage that may have killed the trees had they not been removed.
