For Everyone
Favourite
Where’s your favourite tree in London and what makes it special? Is it beautiful, grand, or is it a rare species? Does it grow in a place where we’d be surprised to find it, or make you happy just to pass by it? Show us your favourite London tree.
Best Story
Sometimes trees have meaning because of what has happened under them, or even because of them. Does your favourite represent a significant event? Does this tree spark a memory? Does it make you smile? Tell us your tall or short tree tale – it doesn’t even have to be true!
Spookiest
Do you get the willies every time you pass a certain London tree? Do its branches remind you of witches or goblins? Tell us about your favourite scary tree.
Greatest Survivor
Trees are survivors. Road construction, vandals, poor trimming, development, and non-tree hugging neighbours are only a few of the threats facing urban trees. Do you have a story about a tree that has survived against the odds?
Best Business Tree - NEW
A new category this year, we’re looking for the best tree located on a commercial, retail, corporate or organization property. Tell us why your company loves this tree. Start some competition with your neighbours or competitors for the best organization’s tree in London.
Biggest
Can you get your arms around your favourite tree? Would it take you and two of your friends to hug your tree? Is your tree the tallest in your neighbourhood, maybe even the tallest in London We're looking for London's most stalwart, stately and senior trees. Large trunks and tall trees can indicate old trees. Find London's largest and oldest trees and tell us their timely tale. Follow these steps to measure the circumference or these steps to estimate the height of your tree. If it becomes a finalist, an arborist will confirm your measurement.
Tree-Inspired Art - NEW
Trees inspire many artist with their form, colour, texture, and beauty. Share your tree art with London. We are looking for visual art that has been inspired by a London tree. Scan or photograph your work and post it along with your story. We welcome submissions from professional and non-professional artists, and these categories will be judged separately.
For Kids
Show and Tell Tree
Kids and trees have a special relationship. If you’re 13 or under, here is your chance to show us your favourite tree and tell us why you like it so much. Note an adult can nominate trees on behalf of the child, but the tree choice and the story should come from the child.
