How do I get involved as a business?

Abundant tree cover in a city is an important contributor to quality of life, and attracts and retains talented and creative people to our city. This is especially important in the Forest City, as trees are part of our image as a healthy, vibrant city.

We welcome your ideas for reforesting London, and have many ideas for you to consider. Your corporation can sponsor a project of its own, become a partner in an existing project that needs funding, or you can make a general contribution to ReForest London.

Here is additional information on how you can become involved.

Champion
At the Champion level, your business takes a primary role in organizing and sponsoring a major planting project. This project may be on or near you property, and has an impact on the neighbouring community. Below is a list of five projects for which we are seeking sponsorship, with links to PDF documents with more information about each. For many of these projects - such as 10,000 Trees for the Medway Valley or the Park Naturalization projects - your corporation's employees can be involved as volunteers; day-long tree planting opportunities can be organized specifically for your organization.

Project Description Outcomes
Community Tree Planting Projects Provide organizational support, expertise, and matching funds to community groups to plant trees in their neighbourhoods Over one year, plant 1.000 trees in 15 projects, involving 1,000 volunteers
Greening London's School Yards Plant trees in lower-income neighbourhood schools, involving the school children in the planting Over a 2 year period, plant 100 trees in 20 schools: 5 trees and 15 shrubs per school, involving 6,000 students
Ivey 10,000 Trees for the Medway Valley Plant 10,000 trees along in the Medway Valley to improve the buffer along the stream and improve the environmental health of this important waterway. Plant 10,000 trees over a three year period

Park Naturalizations Naturalize areas of London 's parks to improve the biodiversity of the park and attract wildlife. 1/2 hectare and 120-200 trees per park

Partner
At the Partner level, your business is matched with a local community group or non-profit organization for a planting project. The project may be as simple as planting trees on the property of the non-profit organization (as a memorial or gift), or may be participating in a community organization's planting project by offering funding, organizational support, and/or volunteers for the planting event.

Supporter
Some businesses may want to offer their support to the ReForest London program so that trees can be planted throughout London. All contributions will be recognized on the website and "Forest" level contributors will also be recognized on printed materials. more info
