Hyde Park SWM Plantings

Project type:
Park Naturalization
Year:
2018
Season:
Fall

Over the course of two different days in September, Hyde Park SWM was transformed by the addition of 276 new native trees and shrubs!  A huge thank you to our volunteers from the South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre for braving the heat on September 15th and working to get over 70 of these plants in the ground!  We would also like to thank staff from Deloitte for volunteering to spend the day with us on October 12th to finish up the remaining 200!  We recognized the site conditions challenge during our first planting, and would like to express our sincere gratitude to staff from the City of London for helping remove some of the tall weeds so our second planting could be more successful.  This really made a world of a difference.

The trees planted at this site will grow to help create noise barriers from the nearby railroad tracks, as well as develop new habitat for nearby wildlife that use the pond.

Thank you to CN through the CN Econconnexions program, Tree Canada, the City of London, and the Government of Ontario through the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund for funding this project and making everything possible.
