City of London Green Roof Workshop

Come and hear about how green roofs can reduce heating and air conditioning bills, reduce and clean stormwater run-off, and help make London a cooler place.
Whether you are an interested citizen, architect, engineer, building owner, developer, builder, or renovator, this Green Roofs workshop will cover many topics of interest to you.
Six speakers will cover many aspects of Green Roofs including:

- Stormwater Management, LEED Certification
- Wind Uplift & Fire Resistance, Warranty & Maintenance,
- Leak Detection, Green Roof By-Law, Standards & Incentives
- Local Case Studies, Lessons Learned and Q and A.

Key Note Speaker Dr. Karen Liu has been conducting green roof research for over 10 years at The National Research Council (NRC), British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and Xero Flor. Dr. Liu is actively involved in technical committees for the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Single Ply Roofing Industry (SPRI). Gary Thomas is Technical Manager Canada, IKO Industries. Gary has spent thirty years in commercial roofing. He is an approved educator for the RCI organization. Sasha Aguilera, BArch Stud, works with Xero Flor Canada and is a leading consultant with 60 green roof installations across including the 2010 Athlete's Village. Sasha has conducted 13 green roof workshops across Canada and was featured in the Toronto Star and HGTV. John Robinson is the General Manager of Detec Systems. John brings 30 years of experience in the area of low-voltage system design, installation, and service. Prior to joining Detec, John had a varied career with ADT Security Canada Ltd, specializing in sales, project management, and human resources.
