Note: Any trees not planted on May 13, will be held to be planted on Sat. May 27. 

In order to better serve those that have purchased and/or received tree gifts, this year we will be offering two Tree Planting Ceremony dates for trees purcahsed (May of 2016 to April 23, 2017).

Both events will be exactly the same, with ceremony, reading of honouree names, followed by tree planting. 

ReForest London would like to extend an invitation to you, your family and friends to attend our Celebration Forest Tree Planting event.

You are being invited because you have either given a Tree Gift or received a Tree Gift in the past year.
Every tree planted will be a living legacy, that will grow stronger over time.

The Celebration Forest is located at 944 Western Counties Road, behind Parkwood Hospital in London (near Wellington Rd. and Commissioners Rd. E). Parking is limited, so please bus, bike, or carpool if you can.

We invite you to participate in a brief ceremony to honour those for whom we are planting trees this year, and then to participate in the tree planting as well if you wish. 

Please bring sunscreen, dress for the weather, and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes if you wish to take part in the tree planting. We will supply drinking water, but ask that attendees bring a reusable water bottle if possible.

Volunteers from the community are encouraged to attend to help assist families with planting the trees.

The Celebration Forest is a partnership with ReForest London, the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St Josephs Health Care London (SJHC). The health care organizations have designated this land as part of their ongoing commitment to the health of southwestern Ontario's people and environment.

Tree Planting Ceremony - Agenda

1pm - 1:30 pm - Ceremony

  • Opening Remarks from ReForest London and London Health Sciences Centre.
  • Names of the honourees will be read during the Ceremony.
  • How to Plant a Tree Demonstration and closing of Ceremony.

1:30 pm - 3:00 pm - Tree Planting

  • Brief demonstration on how to plant a tree, followed by tree planting.
  • Stay as long as you like to enjoy the even. If you are able, please help us plant additional trees for familes that were not able to attend the event. You may also leave after your tree is planted.
  • The event will close once all trees are planted.

Location:
The Celebration Forest is located behind Parkwood Hospital, 801 Commissioners Road East. Turn south into Western Counties Road, and then veer left through the construction barrels that lead back to the CelebrationForest (map). Signs will be posted to direct you.

 



Special Instructions

What to bring, wear, and important details:

  • Limited Parking - Plan to walk, cycle, take the bus or carpool to the planting, if you can. There will be marked areas for parking, please watch for the signs.
  • Planting Location - please note that the ground may be wet, uneven, rocky, or have a slight slope.
  • Drop Off Area - There will be a marked Drop Off Area next to the planting location, for those that have difficulty walking longer distances.
  • Wear sturdy shoes no sandals or flip-flops please.
  • Wear clothing appropriate to the weather – clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. 
  • Bring water – we’ll have a jug to refill your reusable bottle.
  • Bring a shovel if you have one - but we have some to lend you if you don’t.
  • Bring a lawn chair if you have one - we will have some seating available.
  • Lend a helping hand - Some families may require assistance to plant their tree, and we would appreciate volunteers to help assist families plant their trees.

  • Rain Date - In event of heavy rainfall and/or thunder and lightning, the event will be postponed until Sunday, May 14 from 1-3 pm. We will plant in light rainfall. Check the ReForest London website on the date of the planting if you are unsure.
