Thames Park Plantings

Project type:
Park Naturalization

What a day!  On Saturday, September 22nd, volunteers joined us at this central City park from all over London.  Thank you to the Western MES Alumni, and the Western Environmental Science Club for joining us on this perfect Saturday morning!  Together with over 60 volunteers, we planted 215 native trees and shrubs in just over one hour!  Everyone worked hard, brought some serious muscle, and had a blast meeting new people from the neighbourhood.

On September 26th, together with students from Sir Arthur Currie Public School, and our friends and owners of Harris Home Hardware, we returned to Thames Park and finished up our goal by adding another 80 trees and shrubs southwest of the existing community garden!  The students were eager to get their shovels in the ground and make a difference in their City!  A huge thank you to Harris Home Hardware for providing snacks, water, and fresh gloves for the students!

A huge thank you to our funders for these events, CN through the CN Econconnexions program, Tree Canada, the City of London, the Government of Ontario through the Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund, and Harris Home Hardware.
