Walker joined the team at ReForest London as the Web Content Developer, and is thrilled to be part of a community-based organization in his hometown. As part of his role, he coordinates social media posting, develops content for both the ReForest London and Million Tree Challenge websites, and edits RFL’s monthly newsletter.
After graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and completing a Publishing Certification from Ryerson University, Walker returned to London to freelance with local businesses. He has worked with various industries—occupational health & safety, education, skilled trades, publishing, and others—and seeks to effectively communicate brand identity, core principles and mission statements of businesses within London. He will be starting his Masters in Writing at the University of Saskatchewan come September.
Having spent time teaching English in South Korea and working within the educational sector, Walker recognizes the need for youth engagement and activism on both political and environmental issues. Having participated in a number of local protests, he is encouraged by the youth turnout and is hopeful for the local and global future of the environment.
Younger people will be the ones saving this planet, but right now, we need to be the ones fostering that process.
His favourite trees are White Pine and Trembling Aspen
