Roles: Community Liaison, Tree Specialist and Tree Planter

About Mike: Hi, my name is Michael DeKleyn. I grew up in Hamilton and moved to London 35 years ago where I met my wife and settled in this wonderful green city. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 3 grandchildren.  I am a LTC bus driver and drive all around the city noticing how amazing the trees are, and I see that there is a need for more.

Why he volunteers with ReForest London: I understand the need for more trees because of the good they do for shade, our health, the environment and providing homes for birds, and insects.  They are also a great place to hang all my birdhouses that I make!  I discovered ReForest London and the good work they do at the Western Fair a few years ago. Since then I have volunteered at plantings and at the tree depots.  I am pleased to have played a part in providing helpful information and homes for many trees with the friendly volunteers and staff at ReForest London.
