The Community Tree Nursery is collecting native tree seeds for our growing programs! You can support us by identifying if you have the species we’re looking for, collecting and dropping them off at our offices at 944 Western Counties Rd. Please email [email protected] to coordinate drop-off of your donation, or to ensure you’re collecting the correct species.
Current Species to Collect:
Red Osier Dogwood Identification
- Simple, oppositely arranged leaves with smooth edges
- Grows as a shrub with bright red bark
- Small white or bluish-white berries grow in clusters
- Pick the berries when they are pure white, beginning mid-July to September
- Store the berries in a container submerged in water, stored in the fridge until drop-off
