About Reforest London’s Community Tree Nursery
At ReForest London, we’re committed to building greener, more resilient communities. Our Community Tree Nursery plays a vital role in this mission by growing native trees and shrubs right here in Southwestern Ontario. By cultivating locally sourced plants, we’re tackling critical environmental challenges while fostering local engagement in the fight against climate change.
Reforest London’s Community Tree Nursery addresses the rising demand for native trees for urban greening and restoration projects by providing a sustainable, community-based solution.
It’s more than a nursery—it’s a hub for climate action, education, and biodiversity conservation.
Why a Community Tree Nursery?
Climate change and habitat loss are pressing issues in Ontario, where urbanization has replaced vast stretches of natural habitat. Reforestation and urban tree planting are essential to reversing these trends. However, these efforts are hindered by a lack of locally grown native trees.
Our Community Tree Nursery bridges this gap by:
Prioritizing Native Species: Trees grown at our nursery are native to our region, ensuring they thrive in local conditions and provide critical habitat for wildlife
Reducing Supply Chain Vulnerabilities: By cultivating trees locally, we address challenges associated with relying on imported nursery stock, including transportation delays, increased costs, and the risk of non-native pests or diseases.
Empowering Communities: Through volunteer opportunities and educational programming, the nursery inspires community members to take action for the environment.
